Todd Huston tells how he coped with losing a leg at age 14 through the power of love. He spoke at the Northwestern Foundation Donor Appreciation Dinner Thursday in Alva.

What are the qualities needed to overcome difficult circumstances and excel? One might list courage, determination and persistence. For Todd Huston, it's one word – love.

Huston told guests at the NWOSU Foundation Donor Appreciation Dinner about nearly dying twice and having a leg amputated at age 14. His parents were told he might never walk again. However, he has climbed the highest peaks in North America, written a book, been featured in many publications, appeared on TV and earned many awards.
