Alva Church of God

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 10:30 a.m. Alva Church of God is located at 517 Ninth St. in Alva, and can be found on the web at http://www.AlvaChurchOfGod.org.

Alva Friends Church

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m .; coffee and donut fellowship at 10:10 a.m .; worship at 10:30 a.m. Alva Friends Church is on the corner of College Avenue and Center Street.

Avard Christian Church

Sunday services are from 2-4 p.m. Avard Christian Church is 7 miles west of Alva on Highway 64 and 7 miles south on County Road 370, or 6 miles south on Highway 281 and 7 miles west on Garvin Rd. Barnes Street Church of Christ

Bible Baptist Church

Sunday, Nov. 5: Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. There are graded classes for children, a teen class and two adult classes. Our worship service starts at 11 a.m. We will start our 30 Days of Amazing Grace sermon series. Junior and Teen Impact meet at 5 p.m. Our evening service will start at 6 p.m. Wise Guys and Gals also meets at this time. This ministry is for children in preschool to third grade.

Tuesday, Nov. 7: Celebrate Recovery meets on Tuesday nights at 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based recovery program to help provide a safe place to discover a Savior who can give freedom from hang ups, hurts and habits. Everyone is invited to attend.

Wednesday, Nov. 8: Prayer and Bible study begins at 7 p.m.

Capron United Methodist Church

Cedar Grove Wesleyan Church

Our Worker Appreciation Truck Stop is back up and running on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

College Hill Church of Christ

Sunday Bible class for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m. and worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Following the weekly fellowship lunch, the afternoon service will begin at 12:45 p.m. Don't miss a Sunday with our great Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

First Baptist Church

Sunday school at 9:15 a.m. is followed by morning worship at 10:30 a.m. The choir will rehearse at 2 p.m.

First Christian Church

Sunday, Nov. 5: Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. (On Fifth Sundays, we have a breakfast here at the church during this time.) Worship begins at 10:30 a.m., as does Worship and Wonder for children over 4 years of age; nursery is provided for children under age 4.

Pastor Ron's sermon, “Thanks,” is the first of a three-part series on being thankful. The scripture is Psalm 100.

Elders serving will be Kevin Pingelton (scripture reader also serving at Beadles) and Jason Gaisford (lay leader also serving at Share). Deacons will be Devon Cushenbery (counter also serving at Beadles), Cameron Gaisford (greeter also serving at Share), Terri Leeper (captain) and Brooke Pingelton (greeter).

Doris Roberts will teach Sunday school. April Argo will teach Worship and Wonder, with the lesson being “Exile and Return.” Carly Williams and Tricia Coday will work in the nursery. Kevin Pingelton will have the Children's Moments. Kelly Parker and Bill Beeler will run the sound and video.

Monday, Nov. 6: Quilting group begins at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 8: Adult Bible study and children's choir practice begin at 6 p.m. Adult choir practice starts at 6:30 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church

Sunday, Nov. 5: The adult Sunday school class begins at 9:30 a.m. The worship service begins at 11 a.m. The liturgist for the All Saints' Day service is Joy Glass. The ushers are Cynthia Pfeifer-Hill, Steve and Elizabeth Parkhurst and Kelly Benson. Rev. Sarah Chivington-Buck will preach “Communion of Saints,” based on Matthew 5:1-12.

A Praise Dinner will follow worship at 12:30 p.m. The Thank Offering will be taken. The guest speaker will be Louis Garcia, director of Hispanic ministries for Alva Wesleyan Church and food bank supervisor.

Wednesday, Nov. 8: Activities include the community dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the youth group, which meets at 7 p.m.

First United Methodist Church

Sunday, Nov. 5: Sunday school classes begin at 9:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. is our All Saints Day worship service. Dr. Carol Cook Moore's sermon will be “Standing in the Gap,” from Revelation 7:9-17. Sherrill Bell Choir will ring. Liturgist is John Vickers. Ushers will be Chad and Halah Simon, Greg and Sarah Bowman, Barbara Long, and Greg Dietz.

At 5 p.m. the confirmation class will meet in Youth Classroom. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., the youth group will meet at Youth House.

Monday, Nov. 6: The Methodist Men will meet for breakfast at 6:45 a.m. At 5:30 p.m. will be the Sherrill Bell Choir rehearsal.

Tuesday, Nov. 7: At 11:30 a.m. will be the United Methodist Women luncheon meeting hosted by Hannah Circle. Teresa Sutter will present the program.

Wednesday, Nov. 8: At 5:30 p.m. is Chancel Choir rehearsal. At 6 p.m. is Wednesday Night Live fellowship dinner. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. are classes for children, youth and adults. At 6:30 p.m., Leap into Health wellness group with Dr. Liz Kinzie will meet in Church Parlor.

Hopeton Church

Hopeton: a non-typical church! You don't have to dress in a suit to be accepted; you can wear your jeans, get a cup of coffee, and enjoy contemporary music, great videos, and a relevant message.

Hopeton Church meets at 10 a.m. at the main campus in Hopeton, just a few short miles south of Alva on 281. Coffee bar begins at 9:30 a.m. in the new children's wing. We have something for every age: nursery, children, teens, adults, women's support groups, and adult small H.O.M.E. groups for fellowship.

eXtreme Youth Center

Sixth-grade to 12th-grade students are invited to come to this fun place to hang out after school and through the summer. The eXtreme is under the direction of youth pastor Stony Kalonga. Sumer hours at the eXtreme are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Town and Country Christian Church

Saturday, Nov. 4: Remember to turn your clocks back one hour tonight as Daylight Saving Time ends.

Sunday, Nov. 5: Sunday school for all ages will begin at 9:30 a.m. The Sunday school lesson for the adult class will be “Faithful God, Unfaithful People,” from Numbers 25:10-13 and 1 Samuel 2:30-36. At 10:30 a.m. worship service will begin. Justin Williams will bring the communion meditation. Justin Williams and Neal Gordon will serve communion. Children's Church: Cherie Lau or Anita Jacobson. Pastor Paul Cole will bring the message. The fellowship meal will be today, following the morning worship service.

Tuesday, Nov. 7: Town and Country Saints will meet at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 8: Youth group will meet from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Zion Lutheran Church

Rev. Aaron Wagner is the pastor of Zion Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) at Third and Maple.

Sundays: Divine Worship starts at 10:30 a.m. with Holy Communion twice monthly. During Advent and Lent, Zion holds Wednesday services at 7 p.m. Weekday School (grades 3-6) meets at 3:30 p.m.

Weekly meetings: Handbells practice (Mondays at 5 p.m.), confirmation class for grades 7 and 8 (Wednesdays at 5 p.m.).

Monthly meetings: youth group, Seasoned Saints (third Tuesday at 1 p.m.), Ruth Circle (first Monday at noon), Lutheran Women's Missionary League (first Tuesday at 6 p.m.).

The Lutheran Early Care and Education Center (327-1318) offers care for children as young as six weeks old, as well as an after-school program.

Vacation Bible School will be May 22–25, 9–11:30 a.m.
