When I decided I’d run for office, I did so because I believed Oklahomans deserved better schools, better jobs, and better economic projections. When I took the oath of office last year, I was excited about the opportunity to impact our state. Now, almost exactly one year after I was elected, I have been left frustrated by the current state of Oklahoma’s political landscape.

The week of Oct. 23 was probably the biggest week I’ve had since my time at the Capitol. It started Monday with a straightforward plan proposed by Gov. Mary Fallin and agreed to by the House and Senate Republicans. The wee...
