City purchases sanitation truck in special meeting

In a special meeting Thursday, the Alva Utility Authority voted to purchase this small packer truck.

The City of Alva purchased a packer truck for the sanitation department Thursday. The Alva Utility Authority (AUA) held a special meeting to discuss and vote on the purchase. They didn't want to wait until the regular meeting on Nov. 20 because it might no longer be available.

Business Manager Joe Don Dunham located the slightly used small packer truck. It has the same chassis and packer as the small packer bought by the city about a year ago. Drivers for these smaller vehicles are not required to have CDL qualification.
