Volleyball Falls in Final Game of the 2017 Season

ADA – The East Central University volleyball team fell 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-20) to arch rival Southeastern Oklahoma State in the final match of the 2017 season at the Kerr Activities Center.
The Tigers (7-24, 2-14 GAC) were paced by junior Karina Erreguin, with 11 kills, a .267 (11k-3e-30ta) hitting percentage, four service aces and five blocks (1-4). Senior Micah Rogers was one of four players to record double-digits in the digs column, with 19. Senior Diana Etienne adds 15, senior Lily Porsa 14 and junior Abbey Wehrman 12.
Several members of the 2017 senior class will have their names all over the career record books at ECU. Senior Taylor Turner finished second in assists (2,314), Porsa is second in digs (1,679) and third in service aces (85).
Mayer has made the most lists, ranking fourth in block solos (37), block assists (180), and total blocks (217), while also landing eighth in kill percentage (.178) and ninth in kills (610). Senior Mackenzie Davis is also ranked fifth in total blocks (170), sixth in block assists (154) and 10th in block solos (16).
ECU jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the opening set and increased the lead to as many as seven (9-16). The Savage Storm (13-18, 8-8 GAC) fought back with a few small runs to cut the deficit to two (18-16), but the Tigers pushed back and used a 7-1 run to earn the 25-17 win.
ECU again pushed ahead early in the second set, 6-1, before SE used a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to one (6-5). The teams kept battling before the Savage Storm was able to tie the set at 12. The teams traded the next four serves before a 5-0 run by Southeastern gave them the lead for good. The Savage Storm kept pushing the tempo and claimed the 25-23 win.
Southeastern took the early lead in set three and never let up on the momentum to earn the 25-14 win.
The fourth set was a battle with 11 ties, with the final tie coming at 16. That is when the Savage Storm used a 6-0 run to take a 22-16 lead and then push through for the 25-20 win.
