The third item on the agenda after calling the meeting to order was for the Freedom Town Board to tour the refurbished AF & AM Building. The building had deteriorated over the years since it was donated to the town of Freedom.

Members of the Freedom Town Council tour the remodeled AF & AM Building Monday night. Several ideas were expressed as to what the building could be used for. One suggestion was to move city offices there since the current office space is very tight. Other ideas were to rent it out for special occasion events such as birthday parties or receptions.

All the board members were impressed at how clean and spacious the refurbished building was. They spent a few minutes wondering what would be the best use of the building. Ideas ranged from moving city offices there to renting it out for receptions or family events. No decision was made on possible uses.

Upon returning to City Hall to continue their regular meeting, maintenance man Stewart Page discussed the need for a propane storage tank for the new generator the city has ordered. A quote of $380 was provided for a 250 gallon tank and of $480 for a 500 gallon tank. They can be leased for $75 per year but that is not legal because the money is coming from a REAP grant.

Page also reported on widening gaps caused by erosion in the city streets. He said he had been told that in the past the county helped with maintenance of Freedom streets. He also praised the county for saving the city about $900 on patching a pinhole leak in an equipment fuel line.

Also, the gas air-monitor is not working correctly. Page said that he found an RKI brand online for $600.

The agenda called for discussing possible projects to apply for in the 2018 REAP grant.

No other items were covered by this reporter as a school board meeting followed at 7 p.m.
