The Eagle Times: Red Ribbon Week
November 16, 2017
The National Family Partnership created Red Ribbon Week in honor of Enrique (Kiki) Camarena. Camarena was a Drug Enforcement Agency agent who really wanted to make a difference in people's lives, but his life was cut short when he was murdered in Mexico in 1985.
Freedom Public School celebrated Red Ribbon Week near the end of October. Each student was given ribbons, candy and stickers throughout the week to remind them to be Drug Free and Bully-Free. Students and staff were encouraged to wear red on Friday, the final day of Red Ribbon Week.
