The chair at the south end of the table remained empty as members of the Alva Airport Commission gathered for the November meeting on Monday. The missing member, Cory Washburn, died following a plane crash a week earlier.
Mayor Kelly Parker, a member of the commission, suggested a moment of silence to contemplate Washburn's contributions to the airport and the community. "We're going to miss Cory a great deal," he said. It will be Parker's responsibility to find and appoint someone to fill the empty seat on the airport's board.
