After the resignation of President Steve Ellis, the Alva school board received notification that several citizens were interested in filling the seat.
So Wednesday night at 5 p.m., the board met with each of three candidates in executive session. After interviewing each for about 20 minutes apiece, they returned to open session. Member Jane McDermott made a motion to name Steve Hansen to the open seat. Karen Koehn made the second, and the motion passed unanimously.
After the vote, Hansen read the oath of office and signed several documents required of new board members.
