A come-from-behind last quarter win by the Alva Goldbugs Friday night thrilled fans in the stadium and listening at home. “The crowd was in it. The community was in it,” said Taylor Schwerdtfeger, head football coach. “It was a very electric atmosphere.”
The Goldbugs tied Christian Heritage with five minutes to go in the game. The winning touchdown in the 33-26 final was scored with just a minute left.
“I was very proud of our kids. They never laid down,” said Schwerdtfeger. “We’ve always had an edge. Our kids never quit.”
