Northwest Technology Career Fair for sixth graders

One of the career choices presented to sixth graders at Northwest Technology Center Friday was the public service cluster, which was handled by the Alva Police Deptartment, Alva Fire Deptartment, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Medi-Flight and Alva EMS. The Air-Evac helicopter landed at the school and was available for two hours.

Northwest Technology Center (NWTC) hosted about 200 area sixth-graders on Friday to present them with career ideas.

The students spent all day on the NWTC campus. Schools sending students included Alva (52 students), Burlington (10 students), Cherokee (21 students), Freedom (five students), Medford (18 students), Waynoka (24 students), South Barber (15 students) and Seiling (32 students).

The sixth-graders spent 30 minutes learning about each career field. They had eight sessions rotating among Transportation, BioMed, Personal Services, Education, Business, Construction, Health and Agricult...
