Alva wins 14-7 in overtime, advances to quarterfinals

The winning touchdown in overtime was scored by Davion Murrow (1) on the first overtime play in Alva's victory over Lindsay 14-7 in Friday night play. Murrow had a good night, catching four passes for 42 yards and accumulating 52 yards rushing. The Alva player in the back is Cameron Gordon (8). Alva gets to play at home next Friday night against Adair.

The Alva Goldbugs and Lindsay Leopards put on a defensive show in Friday night's second round Class 2A football playoffs. The Goldbugs seem to specialize in nail-biting finishes, and this contest in Lindsay extended the tension into overtime. Alva finally pulled ahead to win 14-7.

The first quarter remained scoreless, and Lindsay managed only one touchdown in the first half (scored by the defense). After half-time adjustments, the Goldbugs started making a little more progress advancing the football, but no one scored points in the third period.
