Alva traffic, criminal fines to increase

Soon it will cost more to violate the law in Alva. Monday, Nov. 20, the Alva City Council approved a resolution raising fines. The change takes effect when the resolution is published as a legal notice, which will probably be next weekend.

Alva Police Chief Ben Orcutt and Assistant Chief Patrick Hawley researched and recommended the new fine list.

"We compared our fines and costs to some of the other cities like ours, same population, college, that type of thing," Orcutt told the council Monday.
