Artists, author and music featured in Art Walk

• 6-8 p.m. tonight

December 1, 2017

Tonight’s First Friday Art Walk in Alva will include feasts for the eye, ear and stomach. The date was listed incorrectly in an ad in the Newsgram, but the event is always held on the first Friday of each month. From 6 to 8 p.m. visitors are invited to stroll around the downtown square and enjoy the cultural offerings.

The Graceful Arts Gallery and Studio on the south side of the square will feature numerous artists including both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works. Local author Sheldon Russell will be at the gallery for a book-signing of his latest Hook Runyon mystery “The Bridge Troll Murders.” Students in the youth acrylic class will also display their work.

Local musician Margaret Goss will provide music as guests stroll through the displays, and the Gallery will serve Christmas Wassail and cookies for refreshments. The Gallery offers some unique opportunities to shop for gifts such as art and books.

Exhibits at the Runnymede on the northeast corner of the square will feature works by students and faculty. NWOSU Artist in Residence Christine Aria will display her paintings inspired by her month in Alva. Local students Wyatt and Garrett Radford will have their metal work on exhibit and for sale. Alva High School students and faculty will have Orphan Pottery for sale, and the NWOSU Art Society will offer their annual stocker stuffer and gift sale.

The NWOSU Choir will be caroling at the Runnymede, and refreshments will be served.

Around the corner on the north side of the square, the ACT I Theatre will be open with a sneak preview of the set for their upcoming production “Christmas Bells.” More refreshments will be available at the theatre.
