Harding Men's Basketball Falls to Northwestern Oklahoma in Home Opener

SEARCY – Harding made seven of its first eight shots but struggled offensively after that and fell 79-57 to Northwestern Oklahoma Thursday in Great American Conference action at Rhodes-Reaves Field House. The game was Harding's home opener.
Harding fell to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the GAC with the loss. Northwestern, who is receiving votes in the NABC Division II Top 25 Poll, improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in conference.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first half. After its hot start, Harding made only 1 of its next 17. Northwestern had a 2-for-17 stretch and shot 28 percent for the half.
Harding led by as many as nine points early in the game. Northwestern went on a 10-0 run and eventually took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by A'keem Oglesby that gave the Rangers a 24-22 lead.
Northwestern held a 29-22 halftime advantage.
The Rangers heated up in the second half, shooting 67 percent and led by as many as 18 on two occasions. A 7-0 Harding run cut the lead to 61-50 with 5:54 left, but the Bisons got no closer.
Junior guard Reggie Anthony led Harding with 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field.
AJ Jones led Northwestern with 21 points, and Treyvon Andres added 18 points and eight rebounds.
