December 3, 2017

The Household Executive OHCE Group met in the Fireside Room of the Cherokee Museum with Carolyn Gasaway as hostess and Evelyn Kramp as co-hostess. The meeting was called to order by President Carolyn Gasaway. She lead the flag salute.

The quote was “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” Five members answered roll call to “What is your favorite game or puzzle?” Devotions were given by Carol Anderson. Her scripture was taken from Romans 12:2: “Be not conformed to the patterns of the word, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Minutes of the last meeting were read by Evelyn Kramp and approved as read.

Eleanor Ring reported, treasurer, reported a club donation to Pennies for Friendship. Gasaway and Anderson attended Holiday Happenings in Major County. Gasaway also passed at old photos of club members.

Anderson presented a mini-lesson on “Keeping Your Mind Active.” She stated that the benefits of an active mind are you keep your memory sharp, reduce chances of dementia and depression while living a rich and fulfilling life. She also stated that we should get plenty of physical exercise and eat healthy. Stress can be reduced by joining clubs, volunteering, reading books, writing letters or calling a friend for a chat. Don’t lose your brain – commit yourself to life-long learning. She closed by having the group play a word scramble game.

Refreshments were served to Gasaway, Anderson, Ring, Colene Barham and Kramp.
