LeMoyne-Owen Defeats Harding Men's Basketball in Nonconference Matchup

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Harding men's basketball suffered a poor shooting first half and could not recover, losing 81-67 to LeMoyne-Owen Tuesday in nonconference action at Bruce Hall Gymnasium.

Harding (0-6) shot 23 percent in the first half and trailed 46-23 at halftime. LeMoyne-Owen (3-6) missed all eight of its 3-point attempts in the first half but shot 19 of 35 inside the arc.

Harding used a 9-1 run midway through the second half to cut LeMoyne-Owen's lead to 12 at 58-46 with 10:32 left. The Bisons, who shot 53 percent after halftime, got to within 12 on three other occasions in the second half but drew no closer.

Tim Wagner and Preston Anderson led Harding in scoring with 15 points each. Braden Eggleston added 10 points.

Rashawn Ellis led LeMoyne-Owen with 25 points, and Jaequan Brown had 20.

Harding made 10 3-pointers, four from Wagner and three from Anderson, but shot only 3 of 13 from the free-throw line. LeMoyne-Owen was 3 for 17 from 3-point range but made 18 of 28 free throws.

LeMoyne-Owen, who snapped a five-game losing streak, outrebounded Harding 57-42, including 26 offensive rebounds that led to 16 second-chance points.

Harding's next action is Saturday when it hosts Christian Brothers at 7:30 p.m. at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
