Oklahoma detective wounded in shooting during traffic stop
December 8, 2017
CLINTON, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say an Oklahoma police detective who was shot in each arm by a man he was trying to arrest is recovering at home and the suspect is in custody.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said Friday that Clinton Police Capt. Mike Murley was shot by 41-year-old Alfonso Rios after stopping a vehicle in which Rios was a passenger.
The OSBI says Murley returned fire, but did not hit Rios, who was later arrested at the scene.
Murley was shot in the biceps in each arm.
The OSBI did not say why Rios was wanted and a spokeswoman did not immediately return a phone call for comment.
