Murdock wins majority in Tuesday primary

According to unofficial totals for the Republican primary election for District 27 state senator, Casey Murdock of Felt received the most votes at 2,181 or 33.17 percent. Travis Templin followed with 1,856 (28.23 percent), and Carolyn McLarty received 1,520 votes (23.12 percent). Jeff Hall received 842 votes, Tommy W. Nicholson 117 and Michael Medill 59.

In Woods County, Templin garnered 35.64 percent of the votes followed by Murdock with 26.18 percent. Templin had 196 votes compared to Murdock’s 144. Carolyn McLarty received 124 votes, Jeff Hall 68, Michael Medill 11 and Tommy W. Nicholson 7.

The voting will be certified on Friday, Dec. 15, if there are no protests filed. The winner of the Dec. 12 primary will face Democrat Amber Jensen in the general election to be held Feb. 13, 2018, to fill the senate seat left vacant by the resignation of Bryce Marlatt.

District 27 includes all or portions of Beaver, Cimarron, Dewey, Ellis, Harper, Major, Texas, Woods and Woodward counties.
