Airport to purchase lighted windsock system

The Alva Regional Airport Commission voted Monday to purchase a lighted windsock system to increase visibility for pilots flying at night. Airport Manager Greg Murray provided information on three different styles. The lowest cost system uses two internal lights, another was operated with a photo cell and the third added an obstruction light on top. The one with two internal lights for an 18 inch diameter windsock cost $1895 plus shipping. The price does not include the windsock or the bulbs.
