Northwestern downs Randall in non-conference contest

December 17, 2017

MOORE, Okla. – For the second straight season, Northwestern Oklahoma State traveled to Moore, Okla. to take on Randall and bested the Saints, this time 90-73.

The Rangers torched the nets this afternoon with four different players scoring in double figures. Cody Halvorson led the way with 24 on 8-of-17 shooting. Behind him were Treyvon Andres (15), A.J. Jones (14) and Cedric Collinge (12).

There were two numbers that really stood out for the visitors today as the Rangers were stellar in field goal percentage and turnovers. The Black-and-Red lit up the nylon for 55 percent and only committed an astounding 10 turnovers in the contest.

Northwestern started the scoring pretty early in the game as Collinge laid one in to make it 2-0. The Saints immediately went down and knocked down a three pointer, taking the lead for the first and last time on the afternoon.

The Rangers had control virtually the entire first 20 minutes of play, going up by as many as 15 points in the Randall Activities Center.

Northwestern eventually finished the half with an 8-point advantage at 42-34.

It didn't take long for the Rangers to take control again against the 2-time defending NCCAA National Champions, where Halvorson started the scoring immediately after a steal, laying it in with just 20 seconds coming off the clock.

As the guests continued to control the game, the closest the hosts were able to get was seven at 74-67 with 6:18 left to play, but the Rangers pounced on the Saints.

In the final six minutes of play, Northwestern went on a 16-6 run, ending the game in a big, 90-73 win.
