Tax increment financing (TIF) is the difference between the amount of property tax revenue generated before TIF district designation and the amount of property tax revenue generated after TIF designation.
TIF districts do not increase taxes. Revenue comes from any increase in property values in the district that then generates an incremental increase in total taxes collected.
TIF districts do not reduce property tax revenues for taxing bodies like schools. Property taxes on property included in the TIF district will continue to be distributed to the school districts and other tax districts wit...
