Kiowa City Council highlights of December meetings

At a special meeting Dec. 18, Kiowa's City Council approved their amended budget. City Administrator Lou Leone said the budgeted amount was $1.25 million and increased to $1.6 million.

This increase was due to the summer storms and numerous outage, Leone said. “None of this increase has to do with tax or rates. We pulled the money out of reserves.”

He explained they made the budget increase so in case any storms, etc., hit before the end of 2017, the city would have the finances. Any budget amendment has to have at least 10 days official notice.
