February 2017: A car and truck collided on U.S. Highway 281 South about 12:45 Saturday afternoon, Feb. 4, in front of Champ's Restaurant and Jiffy Trip. Witnesses at Jiffy Trip said it appeared the white car pulled out in the path of a farm truck carrying a large round hay bale, which resulted in the car being broadsided. The airbags deployed and the Alva emergency crews had to remove both doors from the driver's side to take the automobile driver to Share Medical Center's ER.
