Cleo Springs man dies in collision with train

A Cleo Springs man died in a collision with a train Monday, Jan. 1. Timothy J. Leierer, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene with massive head, trunk internal and leg injuries by Alfalfa County EMS.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at 4:23 p.m. on County Road 740, one-tenth mile south of Caddo Road. The location is approximately one mile south and 1.5 miles east of Goltry in Alfalfa County.

Leierer was driving a 2009 Dodge Ram southbound on County Road 740, a dirt road, and approaching the railroad crossing when he failed to yield to the northwest bound train. L...
