No. 10 Ladybugs start 2018 with 40-37 win over Blackwell

ALVA, Okla. – The Alva High School girls basketball team started the 2018 calendar year with a victory Tuesday night as the No. 10 Ladybugs took care of Blackwell, 40-37. AHS improved to 6-1 on the season.

Sophomore Payton Jones led all scorers in the contest with 17 points, including a 10-point outburst in the second quarter. Stephanie Spellman added 10 points for the Ladybugs, while Tatum Rouse-Murphy added six points, Hallie Durkee tacked on a three-pointer and Rianna Clark and Julie Owen rounded out the scoring with two points each.
