Double-Doubles Fuel Bison Win

January 7, 2018

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist got double-doubles from Chandler Rickey and Vladimir Nemcok in a 100-93 win over Harding Saturday.

Rickey scored 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds while Nemcok went for 15 points to go with a career-best 11 assists as OBU won for just the second time after trailing at intermission.

It was the first time the Bison posted 100 points in a Great American Conference game.

The Bison trailed by as many as six points in the first half and Harding led 45-42 at halftime.

Britt Hammons knocked down a three-pointer to start the second half, which saw the Bison score 58 points.

OBU used a 9-0 run, including six points by Brantly Thompson to take the lead for good, 71-63 with 9:14 to go.

Harding closed to within four points but OBU posted another 9-0 run with Tyler Lester getting a pair of three-pointers. That spree put the Bison ahead 80-67 with 7:18 to play.

HU got as close as four points with 1:57 remaining, but back-to-back Rickey baskets put the game solidly in the hands of the home team.

OBU had six players in double figures in the scoring column with Travon Moore getting 16, Lester 12, Thompson 13 and Hammons 11.

OBU shot 53 percent from the field, including 14 of 28 from three-point range and 87 percent from the free throw line.

The Bison return to action Thursday with a home game against Southeastern Oklahoma State in the Noble Complex at 7:30 p.m.
