Oklahoma Baptist Hits 14 3-pointers, Defeats Harding 100-93

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma Baptist, one of the top teams in Division II in 3-point shooting, connected on 14 3-pointers Saturday and defeated Harding 100-93 Saturday in Great American Conference men's basketball action at the Noble Center.

Oklahoma Baptist (6-6, 3-3) also outscored Harding 26-10 at the free throw line to win its second home conference game of the season. Harding (0-11, 0-6) will play again on the road Thursday at Southern Arkansas.

It was the second time in the last three games that Oklahoma Baptist scored 100 points in a game and the first time Harding allowed 100 this season.

Both teams shot well, especially from long range. Oklahoma Baptist shot 53 percent overall and made 14 of 28 3-pointers. Harding shot 50 percent overall and was 11 of 22 from deep.

The game was tied 13 times and there were 16 lead changes, the last coming when Oklahoma Baptist's Brantly Thompson hit a 3-pointer with 10:17 left to give his team a 65-63 lead. It started a 9-0 run that put Oklahoma Baptist ahead to stay. Another 9-0 run that included 3-pointers from Tyler Lester on consecutive trips pushed Oklahoma Baptist's lead to 80-67 with 7:18 left.


Harding used a late 8-0 run that included five points from Tim Wagner and three from Reggie Anthony cut Oklahoma Baptist's lead to 91-87 with 1:57 left.

Chandler Rickey, the leading scorer in the GAC, came through with buckets on Oklahoma Baptist's next two possessions to help his team pull away.

Facts and Figures

Wagner led Harding with a season-high 28 points, shooting 11 of 21 from the field and 5 of 11 from 3-point range. He added six rebounds and six assists with only one turnover.


Braden Eggleston scored a career-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting and made two 3-pointers. Reggie Anthony added 13 points.

Harding shot 50 percent, its second-best percentage of the season. The Bisons' 11 3-pointers were a season high.

Harding's 10 turnovers were a season low.

Rickey led Oklahoma Baptist with 21 points and 10 rebounds. He was one of six Oklahoma Baptist players with 10 or more points. Vladimir Nemcok had 15 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds.

Oklahoma Baptist scored 58 points in the second half.
