Police: New Mexico student wrote note about school shooting

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — A northwestern New Mexico high school student is facing charges after writing a threatening message about a school shooting.

Police say a 16-year-old Piedra Vista High School student was arrested this week after staff found the handwritten message in a boys' bathroom.

The student was detained following a review of security footage outside the bathroom.

Farmington police spokeswoman Georgette Allen says officers found no evidence the suspect was planning a school shooting.
