Work begins on water tower, shade structures

The City of Alva received a check for $2.635 million from Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) representative Tonya White Monday night. White attended the city council meeting to present the symbolic check which Mayor Kelly Parker accepted. In December the OWRB approved the funding to finance a water system project for Alva.

The low-interest long-term loan will allow Alva to replace two aging and leaking 500,000 gallon water storage tanks with a new tank that will hold more water. Alva Business Manager Joe Don Dunham said the old tanks have already been torn down and work is progressing....
