Burlington School News: Basketball teams earn awards at Cherokee Tournament

The Burlington High School basketball teams participated in the Cherokee Invitational Tournament held Jan. 4-6.
The girls' team played an exciting game against Buffalo that ended with a victory. The Elks also had an exciting game and played Kremlin-Hillsdale, but ended in a loss.
The Elks went on to play Waukomis and the Lady Elks then played Kremlin-Hillsdale, and both resulted in a big win. Both teams earned another round of exciting games with the Lady Elks continuing into the championship. The Lady Elks then played Waukomis and the Elks played Pioneer, both teams earning a victory.
The Lady Elks were awarded first place and the Elks received fifth place. Junior Caitlin Flackman was awarded Most Valuable Player for the tournament and freshman Kayla Highfill was awarded All Tournament Team.
