Rabbits added to list of household pets

Changes to the Alva animal ordinance were approved Monday by the city council. The changes were recommended by the Ordinance Committee when they were asked by Councilmember Daniel Winters to allow rabbits to be classified as household pets. After studying the ordinance, the committee made some other changes and additions. The amended ordinance goes into effect as soon as it is published.

The amended ordinance will define household pet is defined as a domesticated animal regularly kept as a pet within a house or enclosed yard, including dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, caged bird...
