Confidence builders

January 26, 2018

Someone has said, “If you can keep your head when everyone is losing theirs, you do not know the facts.” It is easy to lose our confidence in a world gone mad. We wonder if someone is in their right mind if they face the future with confidence.

The song, “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so” has a powerful message and one of the most enduring songs of children and adults. Written by Anne B. Warner in the 1800s, this song talks about Christ’s deep love for us and our love for Him. Because of Christ’s love for us, we are in good hands.

Someone gave a Christian lady a plaque with a refreshing new twist to this song, “Jesus loves me, this I love.” The focus of these words gives us great assurance that Christ loves us and we can face tomorrow with confidence.

Paul was writing to the church at Colosse who had some doubts about Christ’s sufficiency to handle the future. He said, “But now he [God] has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation” (Colossians 1:22). Paul reminds the church at Colosse that God made them perfect and holy through Christ’s death. If that is the case, Christ can meet their deepest need, what a confidence builder.

As we look at the future we have complete confidence in Christ to handle our tomorrows filled with good or ill. Our “Confidence Builder” comes in the person of Jesus Christ who empowers us daily to a victorious life.
