Daycare worker charged, under house arrest

A home daycare in Cherokee has been shut down and one of the workers is under house arrest following allegations of lewd or indecent acts to a child.

A charge of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 was filed Tuesday, Jan. 23, against Phillip Ray Kight, 69, of Cherokee. The felony charge is punishable by imprisonment in the state penitentiary for a term of life or life without parole and shall not be eligible for probation, suspended or deferred sentence.
