SHAWNEE, Okla. — Henderson State erased an early deficit on Thursday night and led by seven points with just under 11 minutes to play, but were out-scored 35-19 to close the game as Oklahoma Baptist defeated the Reddies 92-83 to break Henderson's three-game Great American Conference winning streak.

After falling behind 23-11 to open the game, Henderson (11-9, 6-8) came roaring back and used 11 points from both Kaylon Tappin and Brad Nairn to spark a 28-18 run, trimming the once 11-point deficit down to just 41-39 at the break.

The Reddies began the second half where they left off the first and used a 19-10 stretch to open up a 58-51 lead with 13:08 left to play. Henderson held the seven point lead for the next several minutes, but trailing 64-57 at the 10:50 mark, the Bison (9-11, 6-8) went on a 26-10 run to surge back in front 83-74 with just under three minutes to go in the game. The Reddies responded with a 5-0 spurt of their own to cut the deficit to 83-79, but a foul on a 3-point shooter proved to be a dagger, as OKBU iced the game at the line in the final minute to hand HSU the loss.

Tappin and Nairn each scored 24 points to lead the Reddies offensively, with Nairn going 11-of-12 from the floor on the night and also grabbing eight rebounds. Vladimir Nemcok led OKBU with 35 points, 23 of which came in the second half. Henderson shot 48.5 percent as a team in the game, but struggled to stop the Bison, who shot 49.2 percent and hit 12 3-pointers.

The Reddies return to action on Saturday at 3 p.m. against GAC leader Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma.
