Man charged in vehicle damage to building, gas meter

A sixth misdemeanor has been added to charges against a 19-year-old from Alva.

According to court records, Alva Police Officer Kris Franta went to the Farmers Cooperative, 401 Barnes, on Jan. 1 about 6:30 p.m. in reference to property damage. Franta talked to Adam Kelly who said he was called to the store because the rear door would not close after being opened. Kelly found that the gas meter and the rear of the building had been struck by a vehicle.

Franta learned the Alva Fire Department was called to the location at 4:21 a.m. that day for a leaking gas meter. The officer spoke with firefigh...
