Ruwaldt appointed first-ever chaplain at Woods County Sheriff's Office

For the first time in its history, the Woods County Sheriff's Office has a chaplain: Chris Ruwaldt, pastor of First Baptist Church in Alva since January 2017. The position is on a volunteer basis.

"Our chaplain will be responsible for assisting with death notifications, counseling for staff and citizens after tragic events, and providing services for staff that need to talk to someone," said Undersheriff Keith Dale.

The Woods County Sheriff's Office isn't alone in offering such services; the Oklahoma Sheriff's Association has a committee tasked with providing guidance to county-level chaplain...
