SNU Closes Out UCO/OC Festival

EDMOND, Okla. — Southern Nazarene closed out the UCO/OC Festival Friday by dropping both of its games to Central Oklahoma, 8-0, and Washburn, 5-1.

In the opener against Central Oklahoma, Katelyn Brown (0-2) allowed seven runs, four of those earned, six hits, and struck out three in 2.2 innings of work. The Crimson Storm had just one hit in the game, as Riley Brown reached on a single in the fourth inning. SNU had three errors, as UCO totaled seven hits in the game.

The Bronchos got on the board first in the opening inning when Katelyn Brown gave up her first home run of the season as UCO took a 3-0 lead. They extended their lead in the third inning as they tacked on four more runs to take a 7-0 lead over SNU.

Central Oklahoma would add another run in the fourth inning to push their lead to 8-0, as SNU couldn't chip into the lead in the fifth to avoid the run rule.

In the nightcap against Washburn, Mahina Sauer (0-1) got the start for SNU and struck out six batters while giving up two earned runs on three hits in four innings of work. She allowed three hits in the 5-1 loss over the Ichabods.

Riley Brown went 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Mahina Sauer went 1-for-3. Brown finished the UCO/OC Festival 7-for-10 at the plate for the Crimson Storm.

The Storm got on the board in the opening inning as Riley Brown drove in Jacey James with her double to the left field wall. After holding on to a 1-0 lead in the next four innings, Washburn's bats came alive in the fifth. The Ichabods scored five runs to take a 5-1 lead heading into the final two innings.

Southern Nazarene couldn't get anything going in the final two innings, as Washburn allowed just three hits in the game.
