Valentine's Day initially celebrated a man named Saint Valentinus. Now it is celebrated to show affection to someone you love. However, that does not mean that you are in love with them but instead want to show them that you care for the person. Many people celebrate their love and care for the individual by sending cards or letters, and giving gifts.

The most common Valentine's Day symbol is Cupid, because in mythology Cupid used his arrow to strike the hearts of people. Many individuals that fall in love say they were struck by Cupid's arrow.
