New superintendent to be hired at Feb. 22 meeting

February 18, 2018

The Alva Board of Education will hold a special meeting Thursday, Feb. 22, at noon for the purpose of hiring a new school superintendent. An executive session is planned to discuss a candidate for the position. After a return to open session, the board will be able to vote on hiring a superintendent for the next school year to replace retiring Superintendent Steve Parkhurst.

Since this is the first meeting following the Feb. 13 school election, the oath of office will be given to Tiffany Slater, Seat 3, and Shane Hansen, Seat 1. The board will also reorganize with an election for president, vice-president, clerk and deputy clerk.
