Woman charged for assaulting boyfriend with knife

A woman was arrested after a witness said she threatened a man with a 10-inch knife. Teira Mechell Funchess, 25, of Alva has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a felony. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years in the penitentiary or one year in the county jail.

Alva police went to the laundromat at the Aspen Apartments following a report of a domestic disturbance at 8:51 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8. When Police Chief Ben Orcutt and Assistant Chief Patrick Hawley arrived they found Woods County Deputy David Cummings had the suspect, later identified...
