On Dec. 21, 2017, the Woods County Retired Educators Association (WCREA) met at the Homestead. Edith Wiebener, site manager and outreach worker at the senior center in Alva, spoke to the group. She gave a little background about herself, saying she lived in Austria for four years. She apologized for her English. Panhandle Nutrition Service had to close after 30 years of service. Meals were discontinued until a new provider, Wheatheart Nutrition Project Inc. of Blackwell, came on board.
