Storm Rally Falls Short at SNU

BETHANY, Okla. – Southeastern struggled form the field over the final three quarters and despite a fourth-quarter rally, was unable to pick up a road win at Southern Nazarene, falling 62-55 on Friday night in Bethany, Okla.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 12-14 overall and 10-11 in Great American Conference play heading into the regular season finale on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. against Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Sa'Liesha Hunter led the way on offense with 16 points on the strength of four threes, while Courtney Bradyfinished with 15 points. Alix Robinson chipped in nine points, while Ariannah Kemp added seven.

Brady and Emem David each dished out three assists.

Tracy Johnson led the team on the boards with seven, while David was right behind with six.

SE opened shooting 50.0 percent from the field in the first quarter, taking its first lead on a Brady jumper at the 4:55 mark and using a Tracy Johnson three with 36 seconds left to take a 17-14 lead at the quarter break.


The momentum flipped in the second frame as the Savage Storm hit just 1-of-11 from the field and went four and a half minutes without scoring to open the quarter. SE was outscored 12-4 in the second and trailed SNU 26-21 at halftime.

The Crimson Storm opened the third quarter on a 7-0 run and would lead by as many as 15 points in the quarter.

SE would the score six of the last eight points in the quarter on an Ariannah Kemp three-point play and an Alix Robinson three to close the gap to 10 points before finishing the quarter trailing 49-38.

The Storm got back in motion to open the fourth quarter with a 13-5 run capped by a Johnson three with 3:06 to play to close the gap to 55-51.


However, SE would not get any closer as SNU would hand the Storm a 62-55 loss.
