Reddies Baseball Outslug Tigers 9-3

 


Henderson State collected 11 hits with Brandon Pollockleading the way as the Reddies beat Ouachita Baptist 9-3 in a non-conference game Tuesday at Rab Rodgers Field.

The Reddies, 8-6 on the season, got on the board first scoring four runs in the third-inning.

The frame began with Daniel Colasanto collecting his first collegiate hit when he singled to center field. Pollock then singled down the right field line with both runners advancing on a ground out by Zack Gray.

Henderson scored its first run as Jordan Harris reached on an error which plated Colasanto. The Reddies loaded the bases when Joe Myers was hit by pitch. Dalton Guthrie later singled to center field to score Pollock to make the score 2-0.

Henderson increased its lead to 4-0 when Bryson Haskins doubled to left center scoring Myers and Harris. It was Haskins' first hit as a Reddie.

Ouachita answered with a run in the fourth-inning and two more in the fifth, benefitting from five walks and a hit batter to cut the Reddie lead to 4-3.

The two teams battled through the rain with Henderson scoring five runs in the top half of the seventh-inning.

The Reddies loaded the bases to begin the inning to set the table for Caleb Carr who hit a single to the right-center field gap to score three runs.

After Haskins reached on a walk and both runners advancing on a wild pitch, Pollock belted out his fourth hit of the game scoring both runners to give the Reddies a 9-3 advantage.

Dalton O'Donnell started on the mound for the Reddies and pitched four innings allowing one run on two hits while striking out three batters to pick up the win.

Foxx Smith and Jordan Harris worked the fifth and sixth-innings on the mound with Taylor Langstonclosing out the rain-shortened seven-inning affair.

Pollock finished the day going 4-for-4 at the plate while Harris was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run batted in.

Henderson returns to GAC play on Friday when the Reddies travel to Searcy, Ark. to begin a three-game series against Harding with the first pitch set for 6 p.m.
