Rash of school gun, threat incidents reported in Vegas area

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities in southern Nevada say two students were found with guns at Las Vegas-area schools, and two were taken into juvenile custody after posting internet items about school shootings.

The Nye County sheriff's office says an 11-year-old girl accused of posting a threat about Rosemary Clarke Middle School in Pahrump is expected to face juvenile charges of obstruction and making terroristic threats.

KVVU-TV reports that police investigated a similar alleged social media threat involving B. Mahlon Brown Academy of International Studies in Henderson.

The threats were deemed not to be credible.

At Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas, a 17-year-old male student was arrested for allegedly bringing an unloaded handgun and ammunition to school in a backpack.

At Desert Rose High School, a 17-year-old female student was arrested after classmates alerted administrators that she had a handgun.
