Virginia district to install buzzer entry in all 82 schools

 


VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — One Virginia public school system is set to introduce buzzer security systems to dozens of its schools in the wake of the recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida, that left 17 dead.

Virginia Beach Public Schools Communication Director Lauren Nolasco tells WAVY-TV that the entry system is already in place at five of the district's 82 schools, and will be installed in the rest starting this summer.

She says the district is using reversion funds and remaining year-end money for the $282,000 project.
