ALVA, Okla. – After the program's second postseason tournament qualification since joining the conference, the Northwestern Oklahoma State men's basketball team has landed three players on the leagues All-Conference List as voted on the by the coaches.

Treyvon Andres was named the GAC'S Newcomer of the Year after transferring to Northwestern from Trinidad State Community College. Andres' impact also garnered him a Second Team All-GAC selection while seniors Brandon Green and Cody Halvorson were named as Honorable Mention All-GAC performers.

The trio of Rangers led the program to the highest total of wins since the 2010-11 season after finishing the season with a record of 21-6. Northwestern's conference record of 17-5 secured them the number two seed in the GAC Postseason Tournament and was a nine-win improvement over the team's finish a season ago.

Andres joined the program this season and immediately made his presence felt as a versatile big man in the paint. The Denver, Colo. native averaged 12.3 points per game and ranked seventh in the league with 6.7 rebounds per game.

“Treyvon first and foremost is an outstanding person and athlete that has played a big role for us this season both on the court and in the locker room,” head coach Shawn Dirden said. “I know for a fact that he will thank his teammates for this individual accolade due to his team-first mentality. Congratulations, Treyvon Andres!”

The junior college transfer had the 10th best field goal percentage in the conference at 54.2 percent (141-of-260) and blocked 58 shots during the year as well, good enough for second in the GAC. Andres' large frame provided the rim protection needed for the Rangers to rank second in the league in scoring defense, giving up just 70.7 points per game.

Treyvon recorded four double-doubles throughout the year and recorded eight blocks in a single game at Randall on Dec. 16, the most recorded by any player in a single game in the league all season.

Halvorson once again established himself as one of the premier three-point shooters in the league this season, earning him an Honorable Mention All-GAC selection. The Temple, Texas native led the team with a scoring average of 12.8 points per game and made the second highest amount of three pointers in the league with 75.

“Cody came into this season as the best three-pointer shooter in the GAC and lived up to that reputation all season,” coach Dirden said. “He saw every style of defense aimed at slowing him down all season, but was able to continually respond night in and night out and led us in scoring for the year. Congratulations, Cody Halvorson!”
