Little Rock boy, 10, arrested after bringing gun to school

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A 10-year-old boy has been arrested after being found with a gun at a Little Rock elementary school.

Lt. Michael Ford says authorities responded around noon Monday to reports of a gun at Baseline Elementary School. Ford says the unidentified student was found at the school carrying an unloaded gun and was arrested on a charge of possession of a weapon on school property.

Principal Jonathan Crossley said in a letter to parents and staff that school officials immediately responded after being notified, and that the student didn't threaten anyone with the weapon.

Crossley says the student will be disciplined "according to the student handbook and the law," and that he's confident the school is secure.
