Proposed rule would open a new, more affordable health coverage option for Oklahomans

 


For too many Oklahomans, access to affordable health coverage has disappeared in the four years since the Affordable Care Act took full effect. That is especially true for working people in Oklahoma who earn too much to qualify for tax credits and don’t have access to employer-sponsored coverage.

Access to affordable health insurance is deteriorating. Average individual market premiums more than doubled between 2013 and 2017 in the 39 states using the federal insurance exchange. Rates in Oklahoma alone have gone up by 201 percent over this period.
