WEATHERFORD, Okla. (March 20, 2018) – Three Southwestern Oklahoma State pitchers limited Oklahoma Christian to just three hits as the Bulldogs cruised to a 5-1 win over OC on Tuesday afternoon.

OC (8-9) managed only a second-inning single and seventh-inning solo home run by Brice Smith and a third-inning single by Garrett Wages against Southwestern (16-11) of the Great American Conference.

The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Robert Perea's RBI single off OC left-hander Michael Basler (0-1), who was making his first start of the baseball season. Southwestern made it 2-0 in the third when Brooks Benson's sacrifice fly scored Chase Duncan, who had walked with one out.

Smith's home run, his second of the season, off reliever Brooks Pond in the seventh pulled the Eagles within 2-1, but Alex Pimental doubled down the left-field line to score Bryan Miranda in the bottom of the seventh and Miranda hit a two-run homer in the eighth for the Bulldogs.

Southwestern starter Jose Laboy (1-2) pitched five innings to pick up the win, with Pond and Garret Gaunt each pitching two innings. Gaunt recorded his first save of the season.

OC will visit Lubbock Christian (Texas) for the Eagles' first Heartland Conference series of the season on Friday and Saturday. Friday's doubleheader will start at 3 p.m., with a noon twinbill set for Saturday.
